Analyze and predict liner wear from a cross-section DXF or image
WearSection compares the new profile of a mill liner against its measured wear curves, all drawn in one DXF layer, and measures how much material has been lost. It then projects the next wear curve for a target tonnage, with an uncertainty band and a validation on your own curves, so you can plan liner changes before the minimum height is reached.

How it works
- Upload the DXF or image and enter the tonnage of each wear curve.
- Check the drawing units and run the analysis.
- Confirm the detected zones and choose the liner type (cast, or hybrid cast plus Hardox).
- Explore the wear map, life by zone and projection, then download the CSV table.
Frequently asked questions
What file do I need?
A DXF where all the lines are in one layer: the new profile is the topmost line and each wear curve lies below the previous one. A horizontal base line below the deepest curve is optional and enables minimum-height checks. You can also upload an image (PNG, JPG, BMP or TIFF) with nested curves of the same color and a horizontal blue dimension line to calibrate, but with images the accuracy may vary: use the DXF whenever you can.
How many wear curves do I need?
At least 2, so the next curve can be projected. With 3 or more curves the app also tests the projection on your own curves (each one predicted from the previous ones) and shows the typical error.
How reliable is the projection?
It is a regression on your measured curves, validated on those same curves, with an uncertainty band and a confidence level. Use it as planning support and confirm it with field measurements.
