Verify a bolted joint from your static analysis
BoltCheck takes the forces and moments a joint transmits, from a static FEA or a hand calculation, distributes each load case over your bolt pattern and checks every bolt following the systematic calculation of VDI 2230-1: assembly and working stress, clamp load against slip or separation, bolt shear and bearing pressure under the head.
BoltCheck at a glance
| You provide | Bolt pattern, bolt and plate data, tightening, and the loads from your static analysis |
|---|---|
| You get | Utilization per bolt and per load case, verdict, figure and PDF report |
| Where it runs | Calculated on the server; results are private to your account |

How it works
- Enter or generate the bolt pattern and describe the bolt and the clamped parts.
- Choose the tightening (torque wrench or direct preload) and the joint interface.
- Enter the load cases from your static analysis, or import a CSV.
- Run the verification and download the PDF report.
Frequently asked questions
Which standard does BoltCheck follow?
VDI 2230-1 for preloaded metric bolts, with ISO 898-1 strengths. Each check in the result shows the step of the standard it comes from.
What loads do I enter?
The resultant force and moment that the joint transmits, per load case, in the axes of the joint (z normal to the plane, positive in tension). They can come from a reaction or free-body force in your FEA, or from a hand calculation.
What is not covered?
Fatigue, temperature, bolt bending from eccentric loading, hole bearing, thread stripping, prying action and joint opening under bending. It is a verification aid: check critical joints against your own copy of VDI 2230.
